Hoplite Compression Take Two

After an “unsuccessful” debut at World’s Toughest Mudder, I gave the Hoplite Compression socks another go with a new shoe combo in the Spartan RD Pro.

Donning Hoplite Socks for the Sunday events of the Spartan Super 10k, followed by the Spartan Sprint 5k in Central Florida, this would be another good test. With portions of the race in hip-deep swamp water, the shedding capability would be tested, along with the potential for repeat slippage I experienced previously that caused blisters to my right foot.

The heel blisters and hot spots on the bottom of my foot did not return and the calf support was sufficient to keep me going throughout the day.

The socks did not water log and sag as some other sock brands have in the past, which is a must for any OCR with water and mud obstacles. You do not want to be trying to pull them up or having the socks bunch up inside the shoe mid-race.

As of now, I will have to say we are 1 for 2 on the race course, but with different shoe combinations. I will have to try the original combination again and make some lacing adjustments to determine if that was the cause or if the shoe design in combination with Hoplite just doesn’t fit my feet correctly.

The next test for Hoplite Compression socks will be in the weight room to test the abrasion-guard on the front shin area during deadlifts.

Stay tuned!
