World’s Toughest Mudder turned into my own personal “proving ground” for new gear, and Boore Performance Clothing compression socks were added to the list. Technically, not my “first” outing with them, I did wear the pair for a 5-mile training session a few weeks ago, this 24-hour endurance run would be another opportunity to check out durability and performance.
Initially starting the race with another first-time-use brand of compression socks, I quickly had a heel blister form and on my second lap a hot spot formed on the ball of the same foot.
Taking some time in the pit tent, before going out I changed to the Boore socks and some moleskin treatments.
These would be the socks I finished the remainder of 2023 World’s Toughest Mudder in and was very happy with the performance.
My calves felt great, water shed was excellent, and no friction burns from the traverse portion of the obstacles. More importantly, the socks maintained the moleskin application without shifting, rolling up or causing additional blistering in the non-stop wet environment.
Seeking out dual-purpose compression socks for obstacle course racing, training runs, and deadlifting is challenging. Boore has passed the first two tests, next up will be the deadlift testing which really just matters in terms of does the sock protect the shin from bar drag. As of right now, Boore will be my preference for OCR performance compression socks at my next Spartan Trifecta weekend.
